In today’s fast-paced digital world, cloud computing has become a fundamental technology, transforming how businesses function and innovate. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) defines cloud computing by five key features that set it apart from traditional IT setups.

On-demand self-service

Cloud computing offers on-demand self-service, allowing users to independently access computing resources as required, without manual intervention. For instance, Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), enabling businesses like Airbnb to swiftly adjust server capacity based on demand peaks, ensuring seamless operations.

Broad network access

Cloud services are accessible over the internet from various devices, fostering global team collaboration. Microsoft Office 365, for example, enables users to access tools like Word and Excel from web browsers or mobile apps, enhancing productivity and flexibility across diverse work environments.
